Oxford Page

Created by Lorna
Images ©1990-2009 Stampin' Up!®
This is my attempt at a Step-By-Step Challenge over at Home and Scrapped. It's a page describing my trip to Oxford. We climbed up a tower of a church while we were there. The climb was extremely scary as the staircase was old, uneven, very narrow, steep and there was nothing to hold onto except the occasional nick in the wall. However, once we made it to the top, the view was spectacular, so I'm glad I did it (and lived to tell about it!). The lady in the photo is Ben's aunt who showed us around Oxford. She climbed the tower ahead of us and made it look easy (I think she may have done it before).
I used the following:
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip
Patterned Paper: Bella Bleu DSP, Kaleidoscope DSP, Patterns Pack II
Stamps: Jumbo Outline Alphabet
Other: Silver Brads, Flower Fusion Too, Chocolate Chip Marker, Crystal Effects

Razzle Dazzle

I made this card for my really good friend Tania (hello Tania) who celebrated her birthday yesterday. She has a very bright and friendly personality and I wanted to try and reflect this in her card.
I started with a 'window' in the top right hand corner of the card, which I made using the 1-3/4" punch. I then used markers direct to rubber on the flower image in Razzle Dazzle to stamp the flower and punched the main part of it using the same punch. While the card was closed, I stuck the flower in the window using Dimensionals. The patterned paper is matted onto Pink Pirouette card stock on the side. The card needed some more embellishments, so I stuck pearls on from the Pretties Kit. The background was done using versamark ink with stamps from Razzle Dazzle.

Cardstock: Pixie Rose, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla.
Patterned Paper: Patterns Pack II (Hostess set)
Stamps: Razzle Dazzle (Summer Mini)
Ink: Versamark
Markers: Pixie Pink, Glorious Green
Other: Pretties Kit

I have a niece who lives in Bristol, England and she turned one this week. For her very special birthday, I made this card and sent it to her. She loves buttons, so the Neutral buttons on the ribbon were a must.

Blue Mountains

Hi Everyone

As promised, here is a photo of my trip away. This is in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. My husband and I also went to Jenolan Caves and the Hunter Valley. I had a great time and can't wait to be on holidays again.

I'll be back with some cards in the next week or so.

Avon River

I've been a really slack blogger lately. If you check in regularly, I'm really sorry it's taken me so long to post. September has been an unusually busy month. I'm on holidays at Medlow Bath in the Blue Mountains at the moment, so I might show you some pictures from my trip in the next post.

For now though, this is a scrapbook page I put together in answer to a challenge. The criteria for the challenge was:

1. Black Background
2. Stitching around the photo mat
3. At least 7 flowers on the page.

I've used some old patterned paper from last year's catalogue, as well as Real Red cardstock, and Lovely Letters embossed in Silver. I punched them out using the 1-1/4" circle punch and matted them on patterned paper punched using the 1-3/8" circle punch.

The stitching is fake - I used the Paper Piercer and template and a gel pen to put faux cross stitch around the top photo.

This is one of the cards we made at my class last week. I love this new set from the Spring Mini - it's so cute. Apart from the bunny and the tree, there is also an owl and a deer. Just gorgeous. For the multi-coloured image on the tree, I've used the drumming technique.

Stamp Sets: Forest Friends, Best Yet Hostess Set
Card Stock: Brilliant Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Ribbon: Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon
Punches: Scallop Oval, Large Oval

A great friend of mine, Natasha had her birthday in the last couple of weeks. I thought it appropriate that I use the Great Friend stamp set from the Mini Catalogue to make her a card. I love this set - it's so versatile, but also very elegant. Now, if only Stampin' Up! would bring out a punch in the shape of that butterfly...
Stamp Set: Great Friend
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Going Gray, Whisper White

What does a double layout have to do with Jane Austen?

Created by Lorna
Images ©1990-2009 Stampin' Up!®

I am a huge Jane Austen fan. Last year, on my honeymoon, I was able to visit the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, England. I made this page through a Step By Step challenge over at Home and Scrapped. I coloured the flowers from the Pretties Kit using some ink and a dauber, then put half-pearls or brads in the centre. Once it was done, I still had some photos left over that I wanted to scrap and I made a second page...

Put them together and they look like this:

Cardstock: Close To Cocoa

Patterned Paper: Sweet Always

Stamp Sets: Lovely Letters, Great Friend (Mini)

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Pink Pirouette

Punches: Scallop Circle, 1-3/8", Designer Label

Other: Pretties Kit, Daubers

Another Rose

I entered into a Cyber Challenge a couple of weeks ago and one of the challenges was a colour challenge. Although the colours weren't given in Stampin' Up!'s colours, they were pretty easy to match up. I decided to use one of the stamps in A Rose Is A Rose that I haven't used before. I've always thought this rose is too big for a card but would probably suit a scrapbook page, but I think it worked well with this space. I sent the card to my friend Vanessa for her birthday.

Stamp Sets: A Rose Is A Rose, Best Yet Hostess Set
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Really Rust, Whisper White
Ink: Really Rust
Ribbon: Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon
Brads: Square Fire
Punches: Large Oval, Scallop Oval (from the Mini), Photo Corners

A Very Close Second

This is Lena's entry to my colour challenge. You can see why I had such a hard time deciding on the winner. Lena has only been making cards for a few months, which makes this card even more impressive.

We have a Winner

Those of you who receive my monthly newsletter (send me an email to subscribe) will know about my June 2009 colour challenge. The colours were Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla.

It was a tough choice between the great entries I received, but there can only be one winner and I think this month, the most deserving card was created by Vanessa.

Congratulations Vanessa, I hope you enjoy your new stamps.

I will show you some more entries in the next few days.

When I'm stuck for colours, I like to look at the colour schemes used in the Designer Series Patterned Papers. For this card, I started out by looking at the Raspberry Tart set of paper and added Whisper White and Chocolate Chip. We made this card at my class yesterday afternoon.

Stamps: Organic Grace Hostess Set, Eastern Blooms, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Cameo Coral, Rose Red

Where does the time go? I just realised it's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post, so sorry I've been such a bad blogger.

This is one of the cards I'll be showing at my class next Saturday. It uses one of my favourite sets, Garden Whimsy on page 85 of the Idea Book and Catalogue. There are so many options in this set. I've decided to mix and match a couple of Earth Elements colours with a Rich Regals colour and I'm happy with the way they all suit each other.

Stamp Set: Garden Whimsy
Cardstock: Garden Green, Bravo Burgundy, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
Markers: Garden Green, More Mustard
Ink: Garden Green
Punches: Large Oval, Designer Label, Eyelet Border

May 2009 Challenge

Marelle Taylor, my upline has put a challenge on her blog.
The challenge, if you choose to accept it (LOL) is to copy a card from the current Idea Book and Catalogue (IBC) and then make another card using a different stamp set and colour combination but using the same layout.
I've copied this card from Page 157. I've tried to match it as much as possible. It uses A Rose is A Rose Stamp Set and Bella's Border wheel. The card in the IBC uses Kraft cardstock, but I've used Sahara Sand instead. Everything else is pretty close though.

Created by Lorna
Images ©1990-2009 Stampin' Up!®

The second card is the same layout with a couple of small changes. I've used Priceless and Heartfelt Thanks Stamp Sets; Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Sahara Sand and Whisper White cardstock; Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette ink, Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon and the Pretties Kit.

So, go ahead, use the IBC for it's main intended purpose (to give ideas) and make a card that looks completely different! It's so much fun.

I hope all the mums out there had a wonderful mother's day on Sunday and hopefully you could sleep in and enjoy the day.
I made this card for my husband's grandma who lives in Canberra. We saw her the weekend before last, but unfortunately, couldn't be with her on Mother's day.
I wanted to use some of my goodies from the new Idea Book and I wanted a very bright, happy card with a touch of bling, so hopefully, this card brought some cheer to a dear grandma.

I've just arrived back home from Convention in Canberra. We had such a wonderful 2 days and I'm looking forward to next year's one which will be held in Sydney.

I decided to make swaps and this is what I came up with. I originally made this card for a male friend's birthday. However, I decided that this didn't look masculine enough (despite the beer), so I made 20 more of it and decided to use it as a swap. Some of the swaps I made had a martini in the centre, instead of the beer, but the same sort of layout.

Stamp Set: Cheers to You
Cardstock: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Punches: Scallop Circle, 1-3/8" Circle, Large Oval, Designer Label
Accessories: Daubers, Dazzling Diamonds

Love notes are pre-scored cards that fold to a 3" square. In each pack, you receive 10 each in Whisper White and Very Vanilla with matching envelopes. They are a great idea for a quick greeting or to attach to a present.
This particular love note was put together to go with the previous card. I love that flower in the Eastern Blooms set. It looks great in a very bold colour like Regal Rose.

Phew, life's been so busy the last couple of weeks. We've had family from England come and go, Easter (of course) and other family events. So, I haven't had any time to post. However, this card has a peaceful kind of feel to it!

I made it using one of my current favourites, Eastern Blooms (page 76 of the current IB&C). If you come to my project class on 16 May, you can make it too. It goes with the project we'll be making. Email or call me on 0410 343 470 to book.

The design came about by accident - I chopped too much off the Regal Rose cardstock, so I decided to use it with a big split in the middle.

Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Regal Rose
Ribbon: Pretty in Pink Taffeta

I didn't make it back over the weekend because my computer broke down, but I'm back on line and here is the promised card. Ruth Bishop from my team posted this colour and sketch challenge on her blog. The colours are Pacific Blue, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red - four colours that I never would have thought of using together but they've made a very bright card. The stamp sets used are Priceless and the brand new Fresh Cuts. I've also used some Dazzling Diamonds on the butterfly image and white gel around the Scallop Circle.

This is a great result and will definitely help.

I'll be back over the weekend with a card.

This is a very similar card to one I posted previously. It uses the Live Your Dreams set from the Mini Catalogue. The set doesn't appear in the new catalogue :( so you only have until Tuesday to order it. I've also used the in-colours which will also disappear on Tuesday - Blue Bayou and Wild Wasabi. Funny how different the card looks when you change the colour scheme.

This card is very different to my usual style. Very little stamping, but using a lot of different punches. The flower on the left is several (18) bits of cardstock punched out using the small oval punch and put together with a brad through the centre. I used three different colours - 6 "petals" from each arranged to form the flower. It was another idea from the SBS challenges over at Scrap Witch.
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Purely Pomegranate (retiring), Old Olive, Always Artichoke, So Saffron
Punches: Small Oval, Large Oval, Scallop Edge, Corner Rounder
Ribbon: Theatre Ribbon Original set (retiring)

This is another layout I've made through the Step By Step challenges at Scrap Witch.
I've used Berry Bliss paper again alonger with Theatre Ribbon, and the large and small Star Punches. The flourishes are from Baroque Motifs (large flourish) and Carte Postale (small flourish) in Basic Black ink. The edges of the torn paper has been inked in Really Rust. The title "Best Man" was stamped using the Rough Edges Mini Alphabet.

I've just joined the Step By Step challenges at Scrap Witch and this is the result of my first week. The bright flower on the bottom left is made up of a cut-out from the Bali Breeze designer series paper with Flower Fusion pieces and a silver brad through the centre. I used (retiring) Purely Pomegranate ink and the (also retiring) Carte Postale stamp set for the pattern on the Purely Pomegranate letters.

Last month, I received a couple of small orders. Rather than put the products in a large plastic bag, I decided to make my own containers to put them in. This is one of them. I think it's called a Bag in a Box. There are a number of different recipes for them on the net, but if you'd like the instructions from me, feel free to send me an email and I'll forward them to you.

*These 6 sets will appear on the list of retiring products, so they will only be available for the Bushfire Appeal- while supplies last. These sets usually go quickly, so hurry.

Don't forget too, that if you spend $100 in one order until the end of February, you earn a free stamp set of your choice from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.

If you ever needed a good reason to buy stamps, this is a very worthy cause!

All the paper in the Mini is beautiful and I might try a series of layouts using a different set soon (when I get a chance). I've made some cards and 3D projects to show you and I'll post them when I download the photos to my PC (hopefully soon).

Sorry I've been away so long. I've been quite busy at work so I'm really looking forward to a nice break this long weekend. I made the page above using Fall Flowers Designer Series Paper (page 134 of the Idea Book and Catalogue). I've also used the Pretties Kit for the embellishments. Here's a close up of the flower on the bottom right hand corner of the page.
I'll try to come back in the next couple of days to show you some more projects.

This is another page I've made using the new Bali Breeze paper. I've used my new favourite stamp set, Eastern Blooms from the new mini for most of the flowers. The page border is from the Prints Designer Series Paper in Old Olive (page 136) of the Idea Book. The Laugh stamp is from the Lovely Labels Stamp set. I've also used the Stampin' Glitter from the mini for the embellishments on the semi circles and the Pretties Kit along the left of the top-left photo.

I decided to do some more scrapbooking and ended up finishing a number of layouts over the past week. I took out my Bali Breeze paper from the Summer Mini catalogue and used it in all my recent pages. The colours are so vibrant and easy to work with. They also go really well with the flowers from Flower Fusion on page 10. This layout is of one of my closest friends Tania as a bride's maid at my wedding. I used the scallop edge punch on the blue page. I've attached the flowers using rhinestone brads and used the Wonderful Favourites set on page 119 of the Idea Book and Catalogue for the title of the page.

Engagement Card

My cousin is having an engagement party later this month (overseas so the card has already been sent). I made this card for the happy couple using one of my favourite stamp sets, Oh, So Lovely. You can't buy this set - you have to earn it by having a workshop. If you'd like to book one in, send me an email to let me know your preferred time. Don't forget that until the end of February, you could also earn the Sale-A-Bration sets at your workshop. All you need to do is invite some friends over and I'll do the rest.
Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White, Soft Sky
Stamp Sets: Oh, So Lovely, En Francais, Occasional Greetings
Ink: Purely Pomegranate
Other: Silver Hodgepodge, Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon, Daubers, Blender Pens.
