Butterfly Bling

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I made this card for two really good friends who each have a birthday during December. I love the new Glimmer Paper in the Summer Mini. I've put some of the red Glimmer Paper through the big shot using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and the Movers & Shapers Punch Windows for this card. Once the Glimmer Paper went on, there really wasn't much more needed so I kept it simple.

Cardstock: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Red Glimmer Paper;

Ink: Basic Gray;

Stamp: Petite Pairs;

Dies: Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Movers & Shapers Punch Windows;

Punches: Scallop Oval, Large Oval;

Other: Cherry Cobbler/White Baker's Twine.

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I made this card for the Stampers Anonymous Christmas card swap event at our annual Christmas party last week.

I used: Real Red and Whisper White cardstock, Real Red ink, Contempo Christmas stamp set, Real Red satin ribbon and rhinestone jewels. The base card was put through the big shot using the Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Some scrapbooking

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I've been on leave for the last three days and today I managed to do some scrapbooking.

In the Chelsea layout, I've used the beautiful DSP, Spice Cake from the new mini. I've also used Soft Suede and Very Vanilla cardstock. The title was made using the Simple Letters Alphabet on the Big Shot. In the top right hand corner, I've put a Glimmer brad through a Very Vanilla button which was made using the Buttons #5 Sizzlits die.

In the Horse and Groom layout (that's the name of a pub in the Cotswolds in England), I've used the Big Top Birthday DSP, Real Red cardstock and Real Red Satin ribbon.

The Nicest Things

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I made this card using The Nicest Things stamp set. It's a great set for a little girl's birthday. This stamp really makes a card special. I stamped it in Staz On Ink and coloured using the blender pen and some Classic Stampin' Pads. Cardstock colours are Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue and Very Vanilla. Paper is from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Patterns pack. I've also used some Velvet Designer Ribbon (available from December in the Summer Mini) and Basic Pearls Jewels.

Triple Treat Flower

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I love stamps that coordinate with punches. This beautiful flower coordinates with 3 different punches - the Fancy Flower Punch, 5-Petal Flower and 1/2" Circle Punch and I've used all three to add a bit of colour and dimension. The stamp is called Triple Treat Flower and is part of the A La Carte range. Another stamp from the same range is Elizabeth - it's the beautiful border stamp that I've used on the bottom of the card. I've also used Basic Black Satin Ribbon and Basic Jewels. The greeting is from Petite Pairs.

Create a Cupcake

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

We made this card at my Stamp-a-stack this month. It's a great birthday card for children and is so quick and easy. I've only used one stamp set: Create a Cupcake on page 36 of the IBC. I've used a number of punches, including the Cupcake Builder punch. Ink and cardstock colours include Concord Crush, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.

16 October 2011

Hello Blossoms

This is a card that we made at a recent Stamp-a-stack to ring in Spring. It was really simple to make and didn't take long at all.

We used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White Cardstock with Old Olive Ink. The stamp used is called Hello Blossoms.

The beautiful pattern made with the Tempting Turquoise cardstock was made by using the Lace Ribbon Border Punch.

Some of the ladies made the card a bit more colourful by using markers to make the flowers different colours. Another idea is to put buttons over the flowers, like I've done here with the Designer Buttons (the Brights collection).

Bold Brights and Trinkets

I put this layout together from a Step by Step challenge at Home and Scrapped. I love the Designer Series Paper in the new Idea Book and Catalogue. The patterned paper on this layout is from Big Top Birthday. It uses Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Real Red, Peach Parfait, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White. I've used these colours in the cardstock and ink on the page. I've also used the stamp sets Sweets for the Sweet and Delicate Doilies.

I also love the new trinkets and I've used one here. I think it adds a nice touch.

I wanted to use the bright colours with these photos because this was a really happy day for me. It was on my trip to Europe three years ago. Ben and I were just about to set off on our bus trip around the continent. These photos are from our week with Ben's family at the Cotswolds in England - it's a really beautiful town full of thatched-roof cottages. It was the first time that I'd seen snow. It was also Easter Sunday, so we had a white Easter, which was very special.

09 October 2011

It's been a while...

I've been a naughty blogger, but I have a lot to show you to make up for lost time.

The first is a card I made recently using some great new stamps and my favourite colour combo - Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I've only used one stamp set - Posy Punch which is only available to hostesses. This set has 3 beautiful flowers which conveniently coordinate with the Fancy Flower punch. They also lend themselves very well to the Rhinestone jewels. The beautiful border is a Textured Impressions folder, Framed Tulips.

I'll be back soon with more.

Strength & Hope

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

I love this butterfly from the Strength & Hope set in the current mini. We made this card at my last Stamp-a-stack. It didn't show up in the picture, but the butterfly was inked in Melon Mambo with Shimmer paint daubed over the top before stamping onto the cardstock. The ribbon is from the free pack that is currently being sent out with all orders over $100.

The Strength & Hope set was created to raise money for breast cancer. $2 from every sale of this set go towards The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It is available in wood mount ($35.95+p&h) or clear mount ($28.95+p&h). The offer is only available until the end of this month - please contact me if you would like to place an order and raise money for a good cause.

Beveled Windowpanes

At my class this month, we made three of these cards, then made another one using a Beveled Windowpane. This card looks ok, but add a little something...

... and you end up with a card that looks more finished. These Beveled Windowpanes launched in the current mini - they come in three sizes (the one on this card is the largest size) and even have a co-ordinating stamp set, Clearly For You. They have slots on the side to allow you to add ribbon (see the Early Espresso Satin Ribbon on this card). These are great for scrapbooking and cardmaking.

Twisted Easel card

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

This is the other card that we made at my class this month. It is a twisted easel card which is really easy to make but the effect is a card that looks really special. I still have a couple of spots left for my class on 9 July. If you would like to attend, please contact me by sending me an email or call me on 0410 343 470.

Classic Card

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

Did you miss me? I've been back from Europe for about 3 weeks now and have started creating again. Yesterday, I held the first class since I left and this was one of the cards that we made. Once again, I've used the Colour Coach to select the colours. I started with the colour of my satin ribbon which is Rich Razzleberry and added Olive Green and Whisper White. I've also used the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder for the beautiful pattern on the Whisper White piece. The highlight is of course the little stamp in the top centre. This is from the Mini Catalogue and is a set called Clearly For You.

Sale-a-bration Fun

I had 6 lovely ladies at my place yesterday, making cards and this is one of the cards that we made. It uses the very versatile SAB set, Punch Bunch which goes really well with 5 of Stampin' Up!'s punches. That cute little cup cake is from the Itty Bitty Bits set (from the current mini). The wheeled image at the bottom of the card is Music Notes.

I've used my favourite colour, Cherry Cobbler here. It goes really well with so many colours and is such a beautiful red.

I was going to give the card to my brother as it is his birthday today, but I thought the flowers make the card look a little too feminine, so I swapped the floral image for the Happy Birthday image in Punch Bunch and the little cupcake for a little star (also from Itty Bitty Bits).

The design of this card was CASEd from one of Marelle's which also uses the SAB set Punch Bunch, only her card has the image of the owl. This design works really well, regardless of the image used and I'm sure other sets would work just as nicely as well.

Stamp-a-stack card

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®

This is one of the cards that we will be making at my next Stamp-a-Stack on Saturday. I've used a couple of sets that I've had for a while, but haven't really used much of - Happiness Shared and Elements of Style. The colours are straight out of the Colour Coach - Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze and So Saffron. I used the blender pen to highlight parts of the flower after stamping. Then I added some Pearl Jewels and sprayed with Frost White Shimmer Paint mixed with some rubbing alcohol.

Bliss

I had a stamp-a-stack class yesterday where 5 of my friends joined me to make 8 cards. This was one of the designs. It's very similar to the card shown in the Sale-a-bration catalogue, but I've simplified it for the class. It uses two of the stamp sets in Sale-a-bration. I'm loving all the sets this year.

To add something special to the card, I've added pearl jewels to the three flowers on the Whisper White cardstock.

The title refers to the average speed of the Concorde at Filton when it was still in use. I went to see it in 2008 with my husband and brother in law. I didn't think I'd enjoy looking at a plane as much as I did that day. Well worth a look if you're ever in that part of the world.

Patterned Paper: Elegant Soiree; Newsprint
Marker: Soft Suede

Bristol

I've just completed another double layout. I always have a great sense of achievement when I complete a double because I tend to get through more photos this way.

This double layout is of Bristol when Ben and I visited family in 2008.

I've kept a lot of white space because it tends to keep the look cleaner. I've used a lot of stamping, but kept the embellishments to a minimum.

These little Designer Brads add interest.

Scrapbook double layout

I love putting together double layouts for my scrapbook. Not only is it a great way of scrapbooking multiple photos, but the two pages look great when they are placed side by side. I decided to focus this layout on Ben and the photos of when we were in London in 2008.

Page 1:
Page 2:

Combined:
I've used the Sweetheart set again along with a great hostess set, Punch Potpourri. It's a set that is designed around four different co-ordinating punches, but the images have different patterns on them. It really is a beautiful set. Other sets I used include Vintage Vogue and Printed Petals.
My jewels have been put to use again. This time, I used the pearl jewels for the bird's eye and on all of the butterflies' bodies.

Valentine Card

Created by Lorna Images ©1990-2011 Stampin' Up!®
At my stamp-a-stack yesterday, my friends had the choice of making this card which would be appropriate for St Valentine's day. I used the Sweetheart set (see here for the current promotion) which is great for just this purpose! I'm also loving the jewels that Stampin' Up! has in their catalogue. They are self adhesive and brighten up a card instantly. In this card, I used two of the Basic Rhinestone jewels in the heart and one for the bird's eye.
